Unto the Hills – November 30, 2013

Incredible as it may seem, God wants our companionship.  He wants to have us close to Him.  He wants to be a father to us, to shield us, to protect us, to counsel us, and to guide us in our way through life.

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

James 4:8 NIV

Billy Graham – Unto the Hills

Unto the Hills – November 29, 2013

Salvation is indeed a gift of God, but there is a sense in which we work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.  His creative action takes place through our obedient action, and He is able to work when we work.

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

James 2:26

Unto the Hills – November 28, 2013

Good works are not a means of salvation because we are saved by grace through faith. But, our good works are an evidence of salvation; and if we do all the good we can, to all the people we can, at any time we can, by any means we can, we will hear “well done” at the judgment bar of God.

What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works?

James 2:14 RSV

Billy Graham – Unto the Hills

Unto the Hills – November 27, 2013

There are higher levels of living to which we have never attained.  There is peace, satisfaction, and joy that we have never experienced.  God is trying to break through to us. The heavens are calling.  God is speaking!  Let man hear.

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

Patience is an attitude of expectation.  God can produce valuable qualities in our lives through the hurts and the suffering we experience.  We can suffer patiently, for our suffering will yield a spiritual harvest.

The testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:3,4 NKJV

Billy Graham – Unto the Hills

Unto the Hills – November 25, 2013

To the Christian, death is said in the Bible to be a coronation.  The Bible says we are pilgrims and strangers in a foreign land.  This world is not our home; our citizenship is in heaven.  To him who is faithful, Christ will give a crown of life.

Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.

James 1:12 RSV

Unto the Hills – November 24, 2013

Few men suffered as the apostle Paul did, yet he learned how to abound and how to be abased.  He learned to live above his circumstances – even in a prison cell.  You can do the same.  Refuse to permit circumstances to get you down.  In the midst of your difficulties, there will be a deep joy.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.

James 1:2 NIV
