Wisdom For Each Day – October 6, 2014

We don’t use the word “backsliding” as much as we used to – but the reality is still with us: A seemingly sincere Christian begins to “slide backward” in their faith, returning to their old ways and acting as if Jesus no longer means anything to them.

Why does it happen?  Sometimes their faith wasn’t real; they had never committed their lives to Jesus Christ in the first place.

But it also happens to believers – and when it does, Satan rejoices.  The good news is that God loves even the backslider, and stands ready to forgive.  Guard against sliding backward in your faith.  Return to God – and He will return to you.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Return to me,” declares the Lord Almighty, “and I will return to you.”
