OBEDIENCE TO THE “HEAVENLY VISION”
I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. Acts 26:19
Waiting for a vision that “tarries” is the true test of our faithfulness to God. It is at the risk of our own soul’s welfare that we get caught up in practical busy-work only to miss the fulfillment of the vision. It is essential that we live and walk in the light of God’s vision for us.
THE DETERMINATION TO SERVE
The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…. Matthew 20:28
Once we realize that Jesus Christ has served us even to the depths of our meagerness, our selfishness, and our sin, nothing we encounter from others will be able to exhaust our determination to serve others for His sake.
THE DEVOTION OF HEARING
Samuel answered, “Speak for Your servant hears.” 1 Samuel 3:10
The goal of my spiritual life is such close identification with Jesus Christ that I will always hear God and know that God always hears me. What hinders me from hearing is my attention to other things. It is not that I don’t want to hear God, but I am not devoted in the right areas of my life. God may say whatever He wants, but I just don’t hear Him.
HOW COULD SOMEONE SO PERSECUTE JESUS!
I heard a voice speaking to me… “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” Acts 26:14
Stubbornness and selfishness will always stab Jesus Christ. It may hurt no one else, but it wounds His Spirit. Every time we stand on our own rights and insist that this is what we intend to do, we are persecuting Him. And when we finally understand that it is Jesus we have been persecuting all this time, it is the most crushing revelation ever.
AM I LOOKING TO GOD?
Look to Me, and be saved…. Isaiah 45:22
The greatest difficulty spiritually is to concentrate upon God, and His blessings are what make it so difficult. Troubles almost always make us look to God, but His blessings tend to divert our attention elsewhere. Wake yourself up and look to God. Build your hope on Him. Salvation is yours the moment you look.
VISION AND DARKNESS
When the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. Genesis 15:12
The saint’s duty is to be still and listen. When God gives you a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will bring the vision He has given you to reality in your life if you will wait on His timing.
CALLED BY GOD
I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8
If we will allow the Spirit of God to bring us face to face with God, we too will hear what Isaiah heard – “the voice of the Lord.” In perfect freedom we too will say, “Here am I! Send me.”
